Steve Davis has worked in newsrooms of all kinds and of all sizes as a manager, editor, writer and page designer. He was executive editor at the community newspaper in Chambersburg, Pa., and also served as both national editor and Washington editor at USA TODAY. His time there included one year as the lead editor directing the newspaper's coverage of the Persian Gulf War. He also worked in Jackson, Miss. and Rochester, N.Y. on the sports, local and national desks. In the mid-1980s, he worked for Gannett Co., Inc. in Washington, D.C. on a research and development project to create some of the earliest
