Seth Gitner has been interested in multimedia journalism since 1998 when he first learned about pairing recorded audio with still photographs. Now he teaches multimedia storytelling at the Newhouse School at Syracuse University. Before coming to Newhouse, he was the multimedia editor at The Roanoke Times and Roanoke.com, and also served as a staff photojournalist there for four years. While he was multimedia editor the newspaper won the APME Convergence Award multiple times, the Scripps Howard Foundation Web Reporting Award, the Newspaper Association of America's Digital Edge Award for most innovative multimedia storytelling, and the Online News Association Award for general excellence.
