1) Develop novel tools to study ER and nuclear membrane structure and function during cell division; 2) Define functions for nuclear lamins during cell division, organismal development, and disease; 3) Identify functions for novel inner nuclear membrane proteins in the organization of single cells and complex tissues. We use the nematode C. elegans and human tissue culture cells to address these questions. Our approaches include high resolution time lapse microscopy, genetics and biochemistry.
