Joanne Allen gained her PhD from the University of Warwick in 2009 with a thesis on Renaissance choir stalls in Venice and Northern Italy. She was the Rubinstein Post-Doctoral fellow at the Society of Renaissance Studies in 2010-11 and has been awarded fellowships at the British School at Rome and the Dutch University Institute for Art History in Florence. She has also worked at The Art Newspaper and the Warburg Institute Library. Her current research focuses on the intersection of architecture, furniture, liturgy and space in Italian churches during the Renaissance. She has published articles in The Journal of the British Archaeological Association, The Antiquaries Journal, and The Journal of the Society of Architectural Historians.
