Jon Coddington is an architect, urban designer, and an educator. Currently he is a professor of architecture at Drexel University where is also the department head of Drexel’s professional interior design and architecture programs. Prior to his appointment at Drexel, Coddington served as the Director of Urban Design and Planning for the RiverCity Company in Chattanooga, Tennessee. At RiverCity Company he was involved with a number of sustainable urban design and architecture projects, including the master plan for the U.S. Pipe and Wheland factory site, a downtown housing plan, a variety of downtown mixed use projects, a preliminary sustainable master plan for the University of Tennessee, Chattanooga and a variety of public arts initiatives. He was also a visiting professor at the University of Tennessee Chattanooga where he taught classes in sustainable community design. Other academic appointments include professor and Chair of the Department of Architecture at Ball State University and associate professor and Graduate Architecture Program Head at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He has lectured in the US and abroad and his academic, planning, and architecture work has received local, state, national and international recognition. He is a registered architect in the state of Tennessee and a member of the American Institute of Architects. He received a bachelor of arts degree in political science from Earlham College, his professional architecture degree from the University of Tennessee and his graduate degree in architecture from the University of Pennsylvania
