Dr. Wilson was appointed as an assistant professor of Comparative Medicine in 1991. Prior to attending the School of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Pennsylvania, he worked as a research biologist for Merck, Sharp and Dohme. Dr. Wilson was in companion animal practice in New Jersey for six years prior to entering the laboratory animal medicine training program at The Pennsylvania State University. He currently teaches C MED 515 (Experimental Surgery of Laboratory Animals and C MED 501 (Biology & Care of Laboratory Animals). He is the director of the Penn State Hershey Animal Resources Program and serves as the Attending Veterinarian for the College of Medicine and M. S. Hershey Medical Center. He also serves as the clinical veterinarian for the Central Animal Quarters. His primary research interests are related to experimental surgery, pain, analgesia, and anesthesia of laboratory animals. He is a Diplomate of the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine (DACLAM).
