Colleen Glenney Boggs is a scholar of nineteenth-century American literature. She has particular expertise in animal studies, transatlantic studies, literary theory and gender studies. B.A. Yale University M.A. University of Chicago Ph.D. University of Chicago
She is currently working on a monograph entitled "Civil War Substitutes: How the Military Draft Changed American Literature," and has an edited volume on Teaching the Literatures of the American Civil War forthcoming with the Modern Language Association. From 2011-2015, she served as the Director of the Leslie Center for the Humanities, where she launched an initiative in “medical humanities” that was the recipient of a CHCI/ Mellon Foundation research grant.
