Clifford Ando's research focuses on the history of religion, law and government. His current projects include a cognitivist study of metaphor, metonymy and analogy in Roman legal and political language; a history and critique of Roman and neo-Roman political thought; and a monographic as well as an edited study of state power in antiquity.
