简介

As a graduate student of mediaeval comparative literature, John Klopacz discovered that while there was little demand for instructors in Anglo-Saxon and Old French, secondary schools did need Latin teachers. Thus began nearly thirty years of teaching in both independent and public high schools in New York City and Silicon Valley. He counts a number of classic majors and even a few current teachers of classical languages among his former students. At Stanford he enjoys meeting the students of his secondary school and AP Latin reader colleagues and he looks forward to working with majors and minors as incoming director of undergraduate studies. His areas of interest include Vergil and his influence, Roman North Africa, Hellenistic Judaism, and Neo-Latin of the Reformation period.
