Susan Barrett is an Applied Professor and the Chair of the Department of Theatre. This is her 20th year at TU. Over the years, she has been fortunate to mentor 6 student finalists in the National KC/ACTF design or stage management competitions. In 2006, Susan added projection design as an area of emphasis making TU one of the first undergraduate programs to offer this new technology to students. Susan has worked professionally as a lighting, scenic, costume, or projection designer at such places as Tulsa Shakespeare in the Park, Signature Symphony, The Dallas Shakespeare Festival, Michigan Shakespeare Festival, as a cultural exchange artist at the University of Windsor, The Attic Theatre in Detroit, Hope Summer Repertory, Eisenhower Dance, and The University of Michigan-Flint. As a free-lance scenic artist she has produced work for such companies as Coca-Cola, The Jack Caldwell Petroleum Company and Theodore Geisel's Dr. Seuss National Museum Tour. Early in her career Susan was the Production Manager for Dallas Ballet, and the first woman ever hired as a scenic artist apprentice at Dallas Stage Scenery.
