Barwick contemplates questions related to homotopy theory, higher category theory, and algebraic geometry. Following a year at the IAS and two years as Benjamin Peirce Lecturer at Harvard, he joined the faculty of MIT in 2010. As of March 2015, he is the Cecil and Ida Green Career Development Associate Professor of Mathematics.
