Courtney Wong Davis is full-time lecturer in the Department of Communication, having earned her PhD in May 2013 from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Her dissertation research examined the influence of past work experience in neophyte and experienced newcomers' socialization into new positions and organizations, as well as newcomers' willingness and ability to identify with a new organization. More generally, her research interests include organizational socialization and assimilation, focusing primarily on organizational entry and exit, organizational identification, and intergenerational communication in the workplace. Dr. Davis earned a B.A. in Communication and a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Southern California, as well as an M.A. in Communication from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Additionally, prior to pursuing graduate studies, she worked for the late California State Assemblymember Mike Gordon (53rd Assembly District) as a field representative and California Secretary of State Debra Bowen's 2006 successful campaign as her campaign fundraiser.
