Prior to teaching at Penn, Elizabeth taught English at ELS Language Center at Grand Valley State University (where she also acted as the IELTS administrator) and at Drexel University ELC. She taught abroad in Kolkata, India and Chachapoyas, Peru. Additionally, Elizabeth has worked as a rater for Educational Testing Services and is a certified ACTFL OPI interviewer. She has also published in Linguistics and Education and presented multiple times at TESOL International Convention and Expo. She served as TESOL ITA-IS secretary 2014-2015, and as Chair 2015-2018. Elizabeth continues to oversee ITA testing and training, is the course coordinator for the ELP's credit-bearing, graduate-level offerings GAS 600 & 610, and manages language testing for J-1 post docs and visiting scholars. She also volunteers as a mentor instructor for Penn GSE, and serves as a consulting faculty tutor for The Wharton School. Elizabeth received her Bachelor’s in English language and literature from Kalamazoo College and her MS.ED in TESOL from the Graduate School of Education at Penn. Her current professional interests include language assessment, rater training, teacher training, and language MOOCs.
