Prof. Lupi is from Venezuela and earned licenciatura and Master's degrees in Physics (Universidad Simón Bolívar, Caracas, Venezuela) before coming to the U.S. to pursue his doctoral degree in Comparative Literature. He is the author of Reading Anew: José Lezama Lima’s Rhetorical Investigations(Vervuert-Iberoamericana, 2012), and has published articles in Revista Iberoamericana (“Orígenes ante las vanguardias”), Chasqui (“La ciencia de Lezama Lima”), Hispanic Review (“Higiene en la casa del habla: Eugenio Montejo’s El cuaderno de Blas Coll”), Revista Hispánica Moderna (“Lezama, Novalis y las vicisitudes de la futuridad”-forthcoming), and The Fletcher Forum of World Affairs ([Mis]Understanding Chávez and Venezuela in Times of Revolution”). He is currently working on articles on Lezama Lima and French symbolism, and on the motif of spectrality in the work of historian and novelist Enrique Bernardo Núñez.
