Dr. Lenore McWey is the Director of the Marriage and Family Therapy Doctoral Program and a Professor in the Department of Family and Child Sciences. Her program of research involves the mental health needs of children and families deemed at-risk and relational interventions aimed to improve the well-being of individuals and families. Dr. McWey is actively involved in research. She is a member of a multi-disciplinary research team providing an evidence-based parenting intervention for adolescents and young adult parents aging out of the foster care system. She also collaborates extensively with doctoral students and other faculty, and results from Dr. McWey’s research have been published widely. Dr. McWey was the recipient of the Florida State University Distinguished Teacher Award in 2012. She is a licensed marriage and family therapist and AAMFT approved supervisor.
