Phil Anderson teaches strategic planning and organizational behavior in both the undergraduate business and UST MBA programs. He served as chair of the Management Department for 13 years, from July 1996 to July 2009. In addition, he served as the first director of St. Thomas' Business Semester in London program in 1995, and was the director again in 2011 and 2014. Annually since 1997, he has led a month-long summer study abroad program to England and Ireland focusing on strategic planning that features site visits to companies overseas. Anderson also taught for four years, including one year on a Fulbright Scholars Fellowship, at University College in Cork, Ireland, while on leave from the University of St. Thomas. While in Ireland, he wrote a case study of Waterford Crystal, Ltd. of Waterford, Ireland, which was published by the European Case Clearing House and included in two U.S. case text books. Before joining the University of St. Thomas, Anderson was a manager with the Univac Corporation and taught at both the University of Minnesota and at Bowling Green State University. He is co-author of Micromatic: A Strategic Management Simulation, published by Cengage Learning and Mogul: A Management Simulation and Maven: A Marketing Simulation, published by Oaktree Simulations. These are computer-based simulation exercises, designed for use as business education and training tools. He has also published more than 40 articles in the areas of educational pedagogy and learning, study abroad and intercultural development, and determinants of ethical behavior. He is the associate editor for Simulation and Gaming: An Interdisciplinary Journal of Theory, Practice, and Research. He is also a reviewer for the International Journal of Intercultural Relations and the Association for Business Simulation and Experiential Learning.
