Guoliang Huang is an associate professor in the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department and the director of the Composite Materials and Dynamics Laboratory at the University of Missouri. His work is focused on investigating various frontiers of dynamic behaviors (wave propagation and vibration) and mechanics of materials, using numerical, experimental and theoretical approaches. He designs and models elastic/acoustic metamaterials, phononic/photonic crystals, and material dynamic characterization to address challenges in structural health monitoring, vibration/acoustic attenuation and energy harvesting/absorption, among others. Huang has published more than 90 international journal and conference papers and two book chapters. Huang’s research has been funded by multiple fund agencies including The National Science Foundation, NSF Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR), NASA EPSCoR, the Air Force Office of Scientific Research, and the others. He received an NSF Summer Institute on Nanomechanics and Nanomaterials fellowship in 2007, and he also received the Northrop Young Research Award in 2009 at University of Arkansas at Little Rock. He has served for several national and international conferences as an organizing committee member or session chair.
