Rachel Chen has conducted various types of research projects in the areas of tourism, hospitality, and service management including sustainable development, economic impact assessments, forecast model evaluations, tourist behavior analyses, and geographic information system (GIS) applications in business development. Her teaching interests include sustainable business, strategic management, eco-tourism, tourism economics, tourism analysis, and marketing for hospitality and tourism. She serves as an associate editor, guest editor, editorial board member, paper reviewer, and track chair for 22 refereed journals and 4 national / international associations. Recently, she has concentrated her research and outreach on valuing sustainable business, eco-tourism, and environment. During the years of 2009-2010, Chen was appointed as Visiting Associate Professor in the School of Forestry and Environmental Studies at Yale University, New Haven, Connecticut. Chen is a Fulbright Senior Scientist.
