Ademide Adelusi-Adeluyi joined the Department of History in 2015. She will receive her Ph.D. in History from New York University in 2015. Ademide’s research into the history of African cities combines a set of interdisciplinary interests in African and urban history, technology, cartography and Digital Humanities. She is working on a book manuscript on the spatial history of women and men in nineteenth century Lagos, Nigeria, examining how they imagined, manipulated and represented the city. She is also constructing a web-based cartographic narrative of Lagos, mapping the effects of civil wars, slavery, emancipation and colonization from the 1840s to the 1880s.
