Giselle A. Auger, Ph.D., APR is an Assistant Professor of Public Relations in the Journalism and Multimedia Arts Department of McAnulty College of Liberal Arts at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh. She received her Ph.D. in Mass Communication from the University of Florida and holds an M.A. in International Relations and Strategic Studies from the University of Lancaster in England. In the mid-1980s Giselle developed a unique major for herself-Political Communication-through the highly competitive Bachelor's Degree with Independent Concentration (BDIC) program at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst from which she received her B.A. Prior to beginning the Ph.D, Giselle had a varied career, most recently as the Executive Director of the LARK Society for Chamber Music in Portland, Maine, where she served for eight years. She has also worked as a freelance journalist for the Lewiston Sun Journal in Maine and the Woonsocket Call, in Rhode Island. Early in her career, Giselle spent seven years living and working in England where she was the editor of The Managing Director business periodical and an administrative assistant for Philip Gould & Associates, a political marketing firm whose clients at that time included the British Labour Party and Greenpeace. While in Maine, she also enjoyed working as a Marketing Assistant for Hydro International, an international wastewater engineering firm, and also as Communication Manager for the Girls Scouts of Maine.
