Assistant Professor Charlie Gee joined the Duquesne University faculty in the fall of 2009. He teaches in the area of journalism with the emphasis in the traditional broadcast platform. Gee's research has been presented at Broadcast Education Association, Midwest Association for Public Opinion Research, Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication, and Popular Culture Association and published in the Studies of Popular Culture. His research interests includes how technology in influences newsgathering quality and procedures, backpack journalism, and journalism in popular culture. Gee is an award winning documentarian and journalist. He has been awarded Associated Press Awards, Telly Awards, an Accolade and was nominated for a regional Emmy for a series on Prescription Addiction. With over 20 years experience in radio and television news, Gee has interviewed national politicians, Vice-Presidents, sports and entertainment figures. He has freelanced for MSNBC, CBS News, CBS Sports, Fox Sports Southeast, The Nashville Network, corporate video, and has covered Papal visits, national championships, professional sports, as well as local events. Gee teaches courses in Principles of Audio & Video, Electronic Newsgathering & Field Production, Media Ethics, Media Management, Multimedia Journalism, Political Communication, and Newswriting.
