Jori Erdman is a professor of architecture at LSU and has been the director of the LSU School of Architecture since 2009. Erdman received a BS in architecture from the University of Virginia and a Master of Architecture from Columbia University. She is a licensed architect in California and has worked at architecture firms in San Francisco, New York, Virginia, Missouri, South Carolina, and Georgia. She taught at Drury University and Clemson University prior to coming to Louisiana. In 2006, she was selected to serve on the editorial board of the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture (ACSA) Journal of Architectural Education, and she was the design editor of the journal from 2007 to 2011. Erdman was elected as treasurer of ACSA in 2013. She serves on the Board of Directors Executive Committee and the Scholarly Meetings Committee, and she is chair of the Finance Committee. She has won the ACSA New Faculty Teaching Award and the ACSA Collaborative Practice Award and has published and presented widely. Erdman is also a member of the Coastal Sustainability Studio (CSS) Executive Committee. Her other board services include AIA Baton Rouge, Academic Distinction Fund, and Louisiana Architecture Foundation. Her scholarship over the years has led to many presentations and publications on the following topics: design-build pedagogy, design inquiry, Southern architecture, critical regionalism, material innovations, and material culture.
