Eric G. Waldon, Ph.D., MT-BC is an assistant professor of music therapy. He received his B.M. in music therapy from Western Michigan University and completed his internship at University Hospitals of Cleveland (OH). He began his graduate studies at University of the Pacific, completing two M.A. degrees: the first in music therapy and a second 2nd in educational and counseling psychology. Dr. Waldon started a music therapy private practice/consulting firm in the Stockton area and began working for San Joaquin County Mental Health. Soon afterwards, he returned to University of the Pacific where he completed his Ph.D. in educational psychology.
In addition to board certification as a music therapist, Dr. Waldon holds a credential as a school psychologist as well as a license as a psychologist in the state of California and has worked for Kaiser Permanente in that capacity since 2006. His research interests include studying the use of music therapy in medical settings, assessment and measurement, and professional development. He has published articles in The Journal of Music Therapy, serves on the editorial board of Music Therapy Perspectives, has co-authored a chapter in an APA text on chronic health conditions in children, and has recently co-authored a training manual for music therapists working in pediatric medicine. In addition to serving as the Western Region representative on the American Music Therapy Association’s research committee, he has been invited as a guest speaker on topics ranging from music in special education settings to the use of music therapy in medical settings.
