Eduardo Ruiz specializes in Golden Age Spanish literature with emphases on material, colonial, and transatlantic connections. The goal is to show the important links between metropolitan and colonial literary productions and to foreground Latin American influences over some of the major canonical works of the period. Specifically he has published articles for Hispanic Review and Hispania analyzing these colonial implications in Miguel de Cervantes’s “El celoso extremeño.” Additional interests include translation theory and practice, gender studies, alterity, and Latin American and Mexican literatures.
