Professor Hollans' current research covers a variety of topics in real estate and urban economics. He has recently been published in the Journal of Real Estate Finance and Economics as well as other real estate related outlets. His research activity has included work in providing alternative definitions of housing submarkets. Additionally, he has written several papers analyzing price dynamics and hedging effectiveness for the Las Vegas, Nevada housing market. He has presented several papers at the American Real Estate and Urban Economics Association (AREUEA) annual conference. Dr. Hollans is an award winning instructor having taught numerous graduate and undergraduate courses at both the University of Georgia and Auburn University in areas such as Real Estate Valuation & Investment Analysis and Real Estate Finance. Prior to pursuing a career in academics, he spent several years employed as a commercial real estate appraiser, working throughout the southeastern and southwestern United States. In addition to appraisal, Dr. Hollans has been active in real estate consulting and has appeared as an expert witness for various municipal and civil court proceedings. Dr. Hollans is a designated member of the Appraisal Institute, holding the Institute's MAI designation. In addition, he holds memberships in AREUEA and the American Real Estate Society (ARES).
