Sarah Smelser has taught all levels of intaglio, relief, monotype and monoprint at Illinois State University since 2002. She is a co-founder of Manneken Press in Bloomington, IL and maintains a healthy exhibition record, showing most notably at Kathryn Markel Fine Art in New York, NY. Her monoprints are in such collections as the US Library of Congress, the New York Public Library, Chase Manhattan Bank, and the Readers' Digest Association. Smelser has been awarded residencies at the Franz Masereel Center in Kasterlee, Belgium; ARTica in Bilbao, Spain; the Skopelos Foundation for the Arts in Skopelos, Greece; the Ballinglen Arts Foundation in Ballycastle, Ireland; Jentel Artists Residency in Banner, WY, Kala Art Institute in Berkeley, CA, and the Vermont Studio Center in Johnson, VT. She received her MFA and MA from the University of Iowa and her BA from the University of California at Santa Cruz.
