Dr. Mark Rice, Professor in the American Studies Department, specializes in the history of photography, twentieth-century American culture, and transnational American Studies. In 2012, Dr. Rice was a panelist on the TV Ontario current affairs program, The Agenda, where he discussed the myths and realities of American exceptionalism. In 2008 Dr. Rice was awarded the St. John Fisher College Trustees Award for Distinguished Scholarly Achievement, the highest award given by the College. In 2007, Dr. Rice was a Fulbright Senior Scholar in Vietnam, helping to establish an American Studies curriculum at Can Tho University.
