Matt joined the geology department in the summer of 2007, and is teaching our undergraduate courses in mineralogy, petrology, introductory geology, and advanced courses in volcanology, igneous petrology, and regional field geology. His main interests are focused around understanding how magmas form, are modified, and erupt. His research has been centered around the Cenozoic volcanic terranes of the Pacific Northwest, Snake River Plain-Yellowstone province, and northern Great Basin (U.S.A.).
