Previously he was Director of the School of Architecture and Interior Design at the University of Cincinnati, having been Head of the Department of Architecture there from 1976 to 1979. He started teaching architecture at Cambridge University in England where he was on the faculty from 1962 to 1976, and was Acting Head from 1973-4. While in Britain Professor Meunier was a widely published practicing architect. His work was exhibited at the Paris Biennale in 1967, and he and his partners, Barry Gasson and Brit Andresen won the competition and commission for the Burrell Museum in Glasgow in 1972. The building was completed in 1983. Professor Meunier studied at Liverpool University from which he graduated with a first-class honors degree, B.Arch, in 1959. He then received a Frank Knox Fellowship to the Graduate School of Design at Harvard from which he graduated with a Masters of Architecture in 1960. On his appointment to the Faculty of Fine Arts at Cambridge University in 1962 he received an M.A. Professor Meunier has had many articles published on architectural education, has been the editor of a monograph, “Language in Architecture,” and was the founding editor of the occasional journal, CENTRAL Papers on Architecture. Professor Meunier?s work focused on the issue of the design of new buildings in historically sensitive urban contexts, arising out of his presidency while in Cincinnati of the Miami Purchase Association for Historic Preservation, and his work as a practicing architect in Cambridge. He has been a design consultant to the City of Cincinnati, and a member of its four-man Urban Design Review Board. He was Vice-Chair of the City of Phoenix Central City Architectural Design Review Panel.
