Dr. Stauffer’s involvement with the public library began with her first job at 15 as a page in public library and later in the high school library and her undergraduate college library. Her professional experience includes two years as Adult Services/General Reference Librarian in Long Beach, New York, eight years as Technical Services Librarian at Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in New York City, and two years as a children’s librarian for the County of Los Angeles. She has also worked as a cataloger for the Cotsen Children’s Collection, a reference librarian and cataloger for Occidental College, and a cataloger for the Frank D. Lanterman Regional Center. Prior to coming to LSU, she taught reference & cataloging for San Jose State University and cataloging for UCLA as adjunct faculty. She is a member-at-large of the Library History Round Table and a member of the ALISE Eugene Garfield Doctoral Dissertation Award Committee, and has held numerous positions in LHRT, ALSC, and ALISE in the past. She was also a reviewer of long papers and poster submissions for the 2014 and 2015 ASIS&T Annual Meetings. She currently serves as chair of the SLIS Awards, Scholarship and Recruitment Committee and the Curriculum Committee, as a member of the CHSE Student Scholarships Committee and Planning Commitee, and on the LSU Admissions, Standards, & Honors (ASH) Committee. She has reviewed articles for numerous scholarly peer-reviewed publications, including Information & Culture, JASIS&T, JIKM, and Journal of Research in Childhood Education.
