Maria Beach is an Assistant Professor of Theatre History, Criticism, and Literature and is the Graduate Coordinator for the Department of Theatre. Her OSU undergraduate courses include Introduction to Theatre, Theatre History I and II, Contemporary Theatre History, and Voices of Diversity. Her graduate courses include Theatre History and Theory I and II, Dramaturgy, and Seminar in Dramatic Literature. She also serves as a dramaturg for the theatre department. She holds a PhD in Theatre History and Criticism from the University of Texas at Austin, a MA in Theatre from Villanova University, and BS/MEd degrees from Vanderbilt University. Her research interests include theatre and war/peace, plays about gender violence, women playwrights, diverse twentieth and twenty-first century theatre and drama, and dramaturgy.
