Candice Roberts, Ph.D. Roberts received her Ph.D. in Communication, Culture, and Media from Drexel University; an M.A. in Communication from East Tennessee State University; and a B.A. in Psychology from the University of North Carolina. She comes to St. John’s University as an assistant professor, Division of Mass Communication. During her doctoral work, Roberts developed research on the concept of the hybrid collective and studied couchsurfing across the United States, Europe, and Asia. Broadly, she examines the theoretical and practical intersections of traditional mass communication with new media. Before returning to academe, she worked in theatre and community psychology and likes to explore stories and how identities are constructed. Many of her interests focus on archetypes, branding, and narrative in popular and consumer culture.
