Wendy Gunther-Canada is Chair of the Department of Government. She is the author of Rebel Writer: Mary Wollstonecraft and Enlightenment Politics (Northern Illinois University Press, 2001) and the co-author with Nancy McGlen, Karen O'Connor, and Laura van Assendelft of Women, Politics, and American Society, 3rd, 4th and 5th editions (Pearson, Longman Classics in Political Science series, 2002, 2005, 2012). Dr. Gunther-Canada has published numerous articles and book chapters on political rights, citizenship, and gender politics. Her essay "The Politics of Sense and Sensibility: Mary Wollstonecraft and Catharine Macaulay on Edmund Burke's Reflections on the Revolution in France" won both the Marian D. Irish Award and the Frederick W. Conner Prize in the History of Ideas.
