Riane Eisler is a cultural historian, systems scientist, attorney, and author whose interdisciplinary research and writing span fields including anthropology, psychology, sociology, economics, political science, law, gender studies, the humanities, systems science, biology, and evolutionary studies. She has addressed the United Nations General Assembly, the U.S. Department of State, and given governmental briefings in such contexts as Germany, at the invitation of Prof. Rita Suessmuth, President of the Bundestag (the German Parliament) and Daniel Goeudevert (Chair of Volkswagen International), the Czech Republic, invited by Vaclav Havel (former President of the Czech Republic), and in Colombia, invited by the Mayor of Bogota, Colombia. Riane Eisler is internationally known for her bestseller The Chalice and The Blade: Our History, Our Future, (Harper & Row, 1987), now published in 26 foreign editions, including most European languages and Chinese, Russian, Korean, Hebrew, Japanese, Urdu, and Arabic. Her book, The Real Wealth of Nations: Creating a Caring Economics (Berrett-Koehler, 2007) – hailed by Archbishop Desmond Tutu as “a template for the better world we have been so urgently seeking,” and by Jane Goodall as “a call for action” – proposes a new economics that gives visibility and value to the most essential human work: caring for people and nature. Riane Eisler is a member of the Club of Rome and the Social Venture Network, a Councilor of the World Future Council, and a fellow of the World Academy of Art and Science. She consults to business and governments on applications of the partnership model introduced in her work.
