Dr. Ploplis received her B.A. degree in biology/chemistry in 1975 from Rosary College and her Ph.D. in biochemistry in 1981 from the University of Notre Dame. She conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Notre Dame, then at Scripps Research Institute from 1982 to 1984. Subsequently, Dr. Ploplis was senior scientist and director of cardiovascular research at American Biogenetic Sciences, Inc. (1984-1994), and assistant staff at the Cleveland Clinic Research Foundation (1994-1998).
She joined the faculty of the University of Notre Dame in 1998. She is currently an elected fellow on the American Heart Association Council on Atherosclerosis, Thrombosis, and Vascular Biology.
