Jessica Rich is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science. She earned her Ph.D. and M.A. degrees from the University of California, Berkeley. Before joining Marquette's Political Science Department, she served as a postdoctoral fellow at Tulane University in the Center for Inter-American Policy and Research. Her book manuscript, State-Driven Activism: The Politics of AIDS in Brazil, analyzes a new form of political mobilization in Latin America -- in which social movements make aggressive policy demands on the state, even while relying on the state for financial support.
