Wendy Salkind is a certified teacher of the Alexander Technique and an actor whose interest has been on texts of heightened language. She is known for her performances in the short plays of Samuel Beckett, performed at international Beckett festivals. For ten years she was an Associate Artist with the Maryland Stage Company (MSC), a professional theatre company in Baltimore. With the MSC she performed at Center Stage in the works of Moliere, Shakespeare, Guare and Chekov and at Theatre Project in Pinter. She has performed narrations with the Baltimore Chamber Orchestra in Walton’s Façade and in Anna Rubin’s “And Everything Goes Bee” for voice and amplified violin in Women’s Work at Greenwich House. She played lead roles in two award winning independent films, Holy Water and Cleave by filmmaker Hollie Lavenstein. At UMBC she was the Presidential Teaching Professor in 2010-2013 and she served as Theatre department chair for 12 years.
