Dr. Logan is a nationally and internationally recognized expert on partner violence and stalking. In 2015 Dr. Logan was invited to the White House to discuss gender discrimination and to conduct a research study at the request of the White House on law enforcement responses to sexual assault and intimate partner violence. This study resulted in a report being used throughout the nation (Who will help me? Domestic violence survivors speak out about law enforcement responses. www.thehotline.org/resources/law-enforcement-responses). Dr. Logan was asked to consult on the development of the National Crime Victims Survey Supplemental Survey on Stalking, to be on the advisory committee to evaluate the National Domestic Violence Hotline services, and has an ongoing collaboration with the Modern Women’s Foundation in Taiwan to adapt the Stalking and Harassment Assessment and Risk Profile (SHARP) to Chinese language. She was involved in at least 6 different media or radio story features. In 2015, Dr. Logan provided 20 local, state, and national presentations. Dr. Logan was involved with 20 peer reviewed publications (10 published, 4 in press, and 6 submitted), 9 state reports, and 14 translational research products. Dr. Logan served on the editorial board of two international publications: Violence and Victims and Journal of Interpersonal Violence. Further, Dr. Logan reviewed 21 manuscripts for 11 different journals across multiple disciplines. Dr. Logan is the PI on 7 state contracts including the Kentucky Substance Abuse Treatment Outcome Study (KTOS), Kentucky Opiate Replacement Treatment Outcome Study (KORTOS), Adolescent Kentucky Substance Abuse Treatment Outcome Study (KTOS), KIDS NOW Plus for Pregnant Women Outcome Study (KN+), Recovery Center Outcome Study (RCOS), Drug and Alcohol Services Information System Management Project (DASIS) and the Kentucky Kids program (KKRP). Dr. Logan is a Co-PI on the Adolescent Health and Recovery Treatment and Training project and on a NIDA funded grant focused on victimization of women involved in the criminal justice system with Dr. Seana Golder, Associate Professor, University of Louisville. Dr. Logan was a co-PI on a grant submitted to NIDA, a PI on a grant submitted to NIJ, and a PI on a grant submitted for foundation funding. Dr. Logan worked with 3 graduate students and 10 undergraduate students this past year, is on 1 dissertation committee. Additionally, Dr. Logan serves on the medical and non-medical IRBs as a prison protocol advocate and alternate as well as an exempt and expedited reviewer. Dr. Logan served on the advisory committee for the Institute for Women’s Policy Research Status on WomenReport, the National Center for Crime Victims Bridging the Gap project, Sixth Congressional District Drug Abuse Task Force, and consulted with the Office On Violence Against Women on their evaluation and research agenda. She also consulted with the Kentucky Domestic Violence Association and Kentucky Department of Public Advocacy. Dr. Logan is also involved with 8 statewide and local community boards and organizations in Kentucky working to prevent violence against women. These organizations include the Attorney General’s Task Force on Statewide Fatality Review, Lexington-Fayette Red Flag Committee; Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government Domestic Violence Fatality and Near Fatality Review Team; Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government Division of Police Domestic Violence Protection and Enforcement Grant Board; Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government Domestic Violence Prevention Board; and the Fayette County Partner Abuse Committee. Dr. Logan is a founding member and secretary of OutrageUs, and a founding member of Counter Quo. Research Description: Dr. Logan’s research interests include interpersonal victimization and substance use. Her research and writings have most recently focused on coercive control, stalking, protective order effectiveness, sexual assault, intimate partner homicide, and health disparities of rural women with partner violence experiences. Dr. Logan has authored or co-authored over 130 peer reviewed articles and five books. Dr. Logan has conducted a comprehensive study on the effectiveness of civil protective orders and the costs and cost-benefit of protective orders funded by the National Institute of Justice (NIJ). Dr. Logan has also receive funding from the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) and the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA). Dr. Logan has also conducted 15 different studies on partner stalking and has some of the most extensive information about partner stalking in the nation. Dr. Logan also works to better understand the effectiveness of substance abuse treatment programs and the intersection of interpersonal victimization and substance use.
