Kay Hoffman is professor and former dean in the College of Social Work. As dean she broght curricular innovation to the College and is responsible for the funding of five endowed professorships. She teaches ethics to undergraduate, master’s and PhD students. She served as President of the Council on Social Work Education and for four years, chair of the Commission on Accreditation. She has been a visiting scholar at the University of Arad in Romania and has lectured in Korea, Hong Kong and Croatia. In addition, she has served as a consultant for more than 25 social work programs throughout the country. In 2000, she helped create the Center on Trauma and Children and an endowment in her name was created at the Center to further the research and dissemination goals of the Center. She has published in the area of social work education, child welfare and more recently on international social work. Dr. Hoffman has been the PI on many grants and contracts and currently is engaged in evaluation research in public health and child welfare. She leads efforts in the community to raise the awareness of child poverty and community engagement.
