I am an Arabic language lecturer at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where I teach different levels of Arabic classes such as elementary, intermediate, and Egyptian Arabic dialect. I also served as the coordinator of the first summer Arabic immersion program at UNC in 2012. I have a long experience in teaching Arabic as a foreign language at different American schools, such as Middlebury College at Mills, the Monterey Institute of International Studies, and the American University in Cairo. I also previously served as a guide and curator at the Egyptian Museum in Cairo. My educational background includes a Master's degree in Teaching Arabic as a Foreign Language (TAFL) at the American University in Cairo, where I received the outstanding Ford Foundation Fellowship, and I am currently an alumna in the International Fellowships Program (IFP). I had a B.A. with honors in Egyptology from the Faculty of Archeology at Cairo University in addition to pursuing graduate studies in Arabic and Islamic studies, education and instruction, and computer assisted language learning (CALL) at Cairo University. In summer 2012 I finished the ACTFL OPI workshop while serving as an instructor at Middlebury College. My field of interest is teaching Arabic for speakers of other languages, linguistics, CALL, and archaeology. In summer 2012 I coordinated the first Arabic summer immersion program at UNC in which students were fully immersed in the cultural activities like Arab cooking and food, Arab folklore, Arab music, and other Arab cultural themes. I have also organized cultural activities such as the Arabic table, in fall 2010 and fall 2011, to fully expose UNC students to these aspects of Arab culture. In spring 2012 I organized the Big Event in which talented students performed Arab dance, singing, and Arab folklore, and were recognized as UNC's first Arab Idols.
