Alan Raines is the Mary Gibbs Jones Professor of Music and Director of Choral Activities at Baylor University. He has guest conducted all-state and honor choirs, both professional and collegiate choruses, and given presentations in over 36 states. Raines’ choirs have received invitations to perform for regional and national conventions of ACDA, NCCO, MENC, and the Texas Music Educators Association. Raines conducts the 64-voice select A Cappella Choir, the Chamber Singers, and administrates the varied program of seven choirs, consisting of nearly 400 singers. He is the editor of the Baylor University Collegiate Choral Series with Morningstar Press and the Alan Raines Choral Series with Alliance Music Publications. Raines and colleague Isabelle Demers recently recorded the Duruflé Requiem with the A Cappella Choir in Paris, France at St. Etienne du Mont, Durufle’s church. It was the first time an American choir has been given the opportunity. Raines is a graduate of UCLA and a student of Donald Neuen. He resides in Waco with his wife Frances and their four sons, Lawson, Sanders, Carter, and Ford.
