Areas of Interest How do secreted proteins control the formation of various types of neuronal cells (e.g., motor neurons) in the embryonic brain and spinal cord? Also, how does deregulation of these proteins cause disease, such as pancreatic cancer (a collaboration with Marina Pasca di Magliano)? We are pursuing the activity of a family of secreted proteins (known as Hedgehog) in embryonic development and disease.
