EUGENIA L. WEISS is a bilingual-bicultural (Spanish) California licensed clinical social worker and licensed psychologist. Weiss maintained a private practice for 18 years working with military personnel and their families, as well as working in community mental health and administration. She is the author and co-author of multiple peer-reviewed journal publications and books. Weiss is co-author of the Civilian Counselor's Primer to Counseling Veterans (2nd ed., Linus Books, 2011) and co-editor of the Handbook of Military Social Work (Wiley & Sons, 2013) and Supporting Student Veterans in Higher Education: A Primer for Administrators, Faculty and Academic Advisors (Lyceum, 2015). She also co-edited the upcoming text, Transformative Social Work Practice (Sage, in press). Her research interests include military and veteran family issues, student veterans in higher education and virtual learning environments. Weiss joined the USC School of Social Work in 2005 as a part-time adjunct instructor at the Orange County Academic Center and became full-time in 2008. As a faculty member, she helped launch the school's San Diego Academic Center in 2009, as well as the military social work specialization. She has also taught and held various leadership roles in the Virtual Academic Center. Weiss served as the 2014-15 interim director of the San Diego Academic Center.
