Dr. David B. Agus is a professor of medicine and engineering at the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine and Viterbi School of Engineering, where he heads USC’s Westside Cancer Center and Center for Applied Molecular Medicine. Dr. Agus is one of the world’s leading cancer doctors, as well as an accomplished author, prominent public speaker, and CBS News contributor. He is an international leader in new technologies and approaches for personalized healthcare, and has cofounded two pioneering personalized medicine companies: Navigenics and Applied Proteomics. Dr. Agus’ first book, called “The End of Illness,” was published in 2012 and quickly became a New York Times #1 and international best seller, as well as the subject of a PBS special. His new book, “A Short Guide to a Long Life,” will be published by Simon & Schuster in January 2014. Dr. Agus specializes in treating patients with advanced cancer with an emphasis on prostate cancer. The National Cancer Institute and other private foundations support Dr. Agus’ vital laboratory research, as well as the development of clinical trials for new drugs and treatments for cancer. Dr. Agus is co-Director of the National Cancer Institute USC Physical Sciences in Oncology Center together with Danny Hillis and is PI of an NCI R01 modeling cancer. He has leadership roles at the World Economic Forum and other national organizations. Dr. Agus received his BA at Princeton University, his MD from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, medicinal residency training at Johns Hopkins Hospital, research fellowship at the National Institutes of Health, and oncology fellowship at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.
