Tania Gentic is Assistant Professor in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese and a core faculty member of the Comparative Literature Program, with a focus on contemporary transatlantic studies. She is the author of _The Everyday Atlantic: Time, Knowledge, and Subjectivity in the Twentieth-Century Iberian and Latin American Newspaper Chronicle_ (2013). The book explores theories of ideology, ethics, and affect in newspaper crónicas and blogs in Catalonia, Colombia, Brazil, and Mexico. Her current book project is on the role of sound in creating local and globalized identity in the contemporary Atlantic world. She teaches undergraduate and graduate courses on 19th-21st century Peninsular and Latin American literature, culture, and film.
