Umit Akinc is Thomas H. Davis Chair and professor of quantitative analysis. He has been with the Calloway school since 1982. He is currently the program director for mathematical business program. Before joining the faculty at Wake Forest, Dr. Akinc taught at SUNY Binghamton and Middle East Technical University in Turkey. His academic degrees are from the Middle east Technical University (BS, 1967); Florida State University (MBA, 1970) and University of North Carolina--Chapel Hill (Ph.D,1974). His papers have appeared in Management Science, Journal of Operations Management, Transactions of the IIE, Journal of Operations Management, Naval Research Quarterly and others. His research interest are in application of optimization methods, particularly in to the problems of production planning and facility locations problems. Recently, he has been working on the problems and challenges of Make to Forecast Production environment.
