CURRICULUM VITAE B.A. – Brown University, 1999 (East Asian Studies) M.A. – University of Chicago, 2008 (East Asian Languages and Civilizations) Ph.D. – University of Chicago, 2013 (East Asian Languages and Civilizations) Nick is thrilled to be joining the Wake Forest faculty in 2014. He has previously taught at the University of Illinois at Chicago and at Smith College. His teaching interests include modern Japanese novels, poetry, and film; concepts of nature in Japanese culture; tensions between tradition and modernity; and literary translation. Nick’s dissertation research and current book project focus on nature, idealism, and intertextuality in Romantic poetry of the Meiji period (1868-1912).
