Dr. Capote graduated summa cum laude from Vanderbilt University and obtained her dental degree from the University of Connecticut. As a dental student, she was selected as an ADEA/AADR Academic Dental Careers Fellow, completing a year-long program that fostered her interest in an academic dental career. Dr. Capote earned her Certificate in the specialty of orthodontics, as well as a Master of Science in Dentistry at the University of Washington, where she is currently an Acting Assistant Professor. In addition to being a junior faculty member in the Department of Orthodontics, Dr. Capote was appointed by the Institute of Translational Health Sciences (University of Washington’s CTSA) to a highly competitive 5-year NIH KL2 training grant. As a Scholar in the KL2 Multidisciplinary Clinical Research Career Development Program, her training is uniquely enhanced through weekly interactive seminars with peer scholars and faculty mentors from a variety of health science disciplines. She is also enrolled in the UW School of Public Health as a candidate for the MPH degree in epidemiology.
