Andrew Leone is currently Vice Dean , Faculty Development and Research, and Arthur P. Metzger Professor of Accounting at the School of Business Administration, University of Miami. He joined the university in 2008, serving as Department Chair (January 2009 - May 2012), and then Ph.D. Coordi nator (June 2012 – June 201 3 ) until his appointment as Vice Dean, Faculty Development and Research (July 1, 2013 - present). Prior to joining the University of Miami, Andrew held tenure track appoint ments at the University of Rochester (1997 - 2005) , and Pe nn State University (2005 - 2008). He als o held visiting appointment s at the University of Chicago (Spring 2001) and the University of Michigan (2002 - 2003) .
Vice Dean, Faculty Development and Research – June 2013 - Present. • Developed a faculty recruiting plan for 2014 in conjunction with the Dean and department chairs. • Introduced at school - wide workshop series to promote interdisciplinary research both within the school and across the university. • Participated in the recruitment of seven new faculty members in 2014. • Oversee the promotion , tenure and midpoint review process. • Oversee annual faculty performance reviews. • Developed a web - based Faculty Reporting System for ann ual faculty performance reviews, and internal and external reporting (e.g., publicati on output for Financial Times rankings ). Department Chair, Accounting – January 2009 - May 2012 . Following is a summary of a ccomplishments achieved by the A ccounting D epartment during Andrew’s tenure as Department Chair. • Fundraising and Outreach – Developed a fundraising strategy for the Department of Accounting that included the establishment of an Accounting Advisory Board, creation and dissemination of an annual University of Miami Accounting News magazine, and networking with acc ounting firms. These efforts yielded a $5 million gift to establish the Institute for I nternational Financial Reportin
