Ruth E. Brown is a professor in the Advertising and Public Relations Sequence and teaches a variety of classes including research, strategy and writing; she also puts classes online. A professional in the field for 15 years, Brown was an associate professor at a sister institution where she taught for 15 years before joining UNL in 2008. “It’s exhilarating to be at UNL where so much is happening,” she said. “Agencies are just a few blocks away, speakers are abundant, faculty members motivate and inspire one another, and the students are competitive.” Brown is a proponent of distance education, and her research on “The Process of Community Building in Distance Learning Classes” was first published in 2001 by the Journal of Asynchronous Learning Networks, was translated into Italian for a special edition of Inchiesta, and has been cited in more than 460 articles.
